      • Maple Holistics shampoos and conditioners are made with naturally derived ingredients to ensure best results. However, sometimes these raw ingredients can be unstable in their purest form. That means we may process some of our ingredients or formulas or include safe chemicals in our products so that you can enjoy from-the-earth products that are safe, stable and formulated with love. Maple Holistics oils, such as our essential oils, are pure.

      • Essential oils are distilled or cold-pressed extracts taken from plants that capture the unique scent and properties, the “essence”, of that particular plant.

      • Sulfates are present in shampoo as they help strip the hair of dirt and oil. However, sulfates can be bad for your hair as they may strip away too much moisture and leave your strands dry and unhealthy.

      • Sulfate-free shampoo is formulated without any sulfates, yet is designed to still lather and clean away impurities, buildup, oil and dirt from your hair.

      • Parabens are chemical preservatives that are frequently used in cosmetic products.

      • Parabens are used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and mold. However, this function has been known to also disrupt hormone function in humans and has been linked to an increase in cancers, cause fertility issues and affect birth outcomes.

      • Always check the ingredients list! While we offer so many amazing gluten-free products, like our pure oils and oil blends, some of our hair care products may include naturally derived ingredients like Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein or Botanical Keratin, both of which may not be gluten-free.

      • Our fragranced shampoos and conditioners contain fragrance blends that are very gentle and mild, usually containing essential oils. These blends are generally suited for people of all skin types, including those who are sensitive to fragrance. If you’re looking to avoid fragrances altogether, we recommend you try our Tea Tree Set or Winter Blend Set, as they’re a fragrance-free shampoo and conditioner.

      • Our products do not contain any animal ingredients. The only ingredient which may potentially be considered an animal derivative is our silk amino acids, however they are sourced from a vendor who shares our interests in supporting cruelty free sourcing and takes special interest to treat the silk worms with care throughout the natural silk 'collecting' process. Almost all of our products do not include silk amino acids, and are PETA certified vegan.

      • No! Animal testing of any kind will never be acceptable at Maple Holistics, so you can enjoy a guilt-free personal care experience without compromising on quality.

      • Yes! Maple Holistics is proud to be a cruelty-free company. None of our products are tested on animals and we do not sell our products in markets that could subject our products to state-mandated animal testing.

      • All Maple Holistics hair care products are safe for color-treated hair and sulfate-free. So you can enjoy all the botanical benefits without worrying about fading!

      • Most shampoos do not have an expiration date, but depending on the ingredients shampoo usually lasts between 12-18 months.

      • No. This is because adding essential oils to a humidifier may cause damage and erode the plastic in the interior. It is best to use a diffuser that is specifically designed to hold essential oils rather than a humidifier.

      • This changes on a case-by-case basis. The essential oils that are generally safe for dogs and other pets are: myrrh, frankincense, chamomile, lavender oil, ginger, rosemary, and bergamot. Other essential oils are toxic for dogs and pets when applied to the skin, ingested, or when inhaled through a diffuser. If you have a pet, please note that some of the toxic essential oils are: eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, cinnamon, citrus, peppermint, pine, wintergreen, and ylang-ylang.

      • There are several dilution methods, but it is recommended to dilute your essential oil with carrier oil at a ratio of approximately 2-5% (e.g. 20 drops of Lavender essential oil to 6 teaspoons of Almond carrier oil.)

      • Essential oils change over time, and it is hard to predict how they react if inhaled or applied topically to your skin. It is, therefore, best not to use them after their expiry date. Likewise, oxidization is a factor.
